The skin is the largest organ in the human body and is easily exposed to injury risks that can damage tissue and require proper care. Wound care is essential to speed up the healing process and prevent any risk of infection.
Types of injuries that require wound care include:
- Diabetic wounds
- Open wounds (cuts/scrapes)
- Abrasions
- Amputation wounds
- Penetrating wounds
- Sutured wounds
Wound cleaning or "dressing" can be categorized into 3 stages:
1. Mild
2. Moderate
3. Severe
